What’s Your Favorite Year Of Music? Mine is 96′

I don’t care what anyone says, 1996 was the absolute best year for music! PERIOD! You can talk about the 50s, 60s, 70s, cool. When you get to 1996! BRUH! It goes down! And of course you’re going to look at me and say he’s black so he’s talking about Rap and R&B. Yes and no. Yes, because was a kid I listened to what the world thought I should listen to, but then I started listening to what I thought sounded GREAT!

So let me just name off some artist and songs; Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men – One Sweet Day, The Tony Rich Project – Nobody Knows, Bone Thugs N Harmony – The Crossroads, Toni Braxton – You’re Makin’ Me High, Quad City DJ’s – C’mon N’ Ride It, Keith Sweat – Twisted, Whitney Houston – Exhale (Shoop Shoop), 2Pac and Dre – California Love, LL Cool J – Hey Lover, La Bouche – Be My Lover, Mary J. Blige – Not Gon Cry, Coolio – Gangsta’s Paradise, 112 Feat. Biggie – Only You, Monica – Before You Walk Out Of My Life, Joe – All The Things Your Man Won’t Do, Busta Rhymes – Woo Hah, Outkast – Elevators, Groove Theory – Tell Me, and Ginuwine – Pony. Now with reading that list, you have to say to yourself “SHIT! That was only 96?!?! YEESSS!!! And there’s so many more songs that came out that year, I just can’t name them all.

My personal favorite from that year and sincerely my most favorite song of all time is Ghost Town DJs – My Boo. There was no better song to skate to and there damn sure wasn’t a better music video out. I was living on Parris Island in South Carolina, went to Robert Smalls Middle School. Home of the Generals and BOY the dances were all the way lit. This was the time where Florida or Miami Bass was real big and the south was doing something in music. It was just music you could dance to and have a good time with. And at the time BOYS DANCED WITH GIRLS!! There was very little just standing there and we definitely wasn’t jumpin’ up and down with a group of dudes. My Boo just makes me recall summer and a time were the most I had to worry about was if my parents found out I didn’t turn in my homework, lol.

There’s some cool music now, but there isn’t a lot of music that makes me feel anymore. Not like the 90s and definitely not like 96.

What year do you think was the best music?
