Getting right into it. Nope, Blacula doesn’t count. Spike Lee tried twice with Tales From The Hood which was WOKE, but still not that scary and with Def by Temptation. Which if you haven’t seen, I would definitely check it out. It scared me as a kid, but I have to rewatch it to make sure again, lol. Candyman is probably the only legit frightening black film that we have out. That is until March 15th, 2019 when Jordan Peele’s “Us” hits theaters.
Not to get too deep, but in the African American culture. There’s just certain things we’re not going to to do. If we hear a strange noise, we will not go towards it to see what it is. We will not yell out someone’s name to see if they’re there. If we’re running, 9.9 times out of 10 we will not fall. And if we do, it’s a roll and go. Meaning, we will not lose momentum and keep it pushing. Now this is in real life. So it is hard for us to believe in any horror film that we would behave like you have seen in most movies.
But this crazy genius Jordan Peele is playing with everyone’s minds with his thriller series. First, there was GET OUT, there was no Jason or Freddy. It was actual real possibilities and that’s the scariest shit out!!
Now there’s “US” and Mr. Peele had the nerve to use a hip hop classic “I GOT 5 ON IT” as a thriller ass theme song. Even though, I’ve watched the trailer and have a general idea of the movie, I still got so many questions. And that is why he will have my money when the movie comes out. This trailer is the Christmas Present you didn’t know you needed.
