A couple of years ago #OscarsSoWhite pointed out how there was no diversity represented at The Academy Awards. I don’t think this year was #OscarsSoBlack, but it was the closest it has been EVER! Still for the category of BEST PICTURE, it seemed most people wanted to see BLACK PANTHER win. Instead it went to GREEN BOOK. A story of a working-class Italian-American bouncer who becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South.
Now even though Mahershala Ali won BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR (which makes him the first African American to win this award twice) for this role. Point blank, Black Panther was for the culture, FUBU (For Us By Us), and it was LITTY #AF!!
I didn’t see Green Book and I’m sure it was a really good movie. But if we’re going by numbers, Black Panther had 7 nominations and Green Book had 5 nominations. And just to kill the whole debate, Black Panther had Angela Bassett, so boom! lol
With Green Book winning BEST PICTURE, there was an apparent observation. A lot of folks was talking, but comedian Roy Wood Jr. put the words together the best. He even had some of his celebrity friends join in with the factual fun.
